"On Golden Pond" -- or in this case -- "On Rutland Water". Rutland is a place I hadn't set foot in before. It was a total mystery to me. Being a keen cyclist I was first struck at the number of cycleways, cyclists and bike on cars I saw as I arrived in the area. Little did I know that I was about to discover the country's largest man made water course complete with some ace cycle routes. I think I know where Evan and I will be travelling to next year for our lads camping trip. Enough of that…what about Anna and Oliver. Anna was a Bridesmaid for Saara a few years back. Nice to see a familiar face…both at the business end and in the guests. Anna arrived, rather covertly, in a London Routemaster bus. The guests could only see the top of the aforementioned bus as it drove into the car park. This led to the ceremony which again, was a unique affair as there were no seats. A small conservatory acted at the 'fixed and permanent structure' from which they could be married. Instead of guests ordered in rows it was a case of find your perch on the garden wall or around the small pond in the middle. A short drinks reception in the gardens and the guests loaded on to the bus for the short drive down to Ernie's Point on Rutland Water. A open sided marquee and a hog roast became the focal point for an afternoon of cricket, games, body zorbing and general great fun. I was totally immersed in the experience and was sad to see the light go. What an amazing day!
