Its not everyday you get the call. "Hi Rob, we saw your photos from a friends wedding. We'd be interested in you photographing ours. By the way…its in Verona…Italy". Ummm. Let me think. Sure! Actually destination weddings are hard work. Consolodating everything into a small bag, working by the seat of your trousers, finding that in no way do you know what will happen next. Of course they also make you think outside of the box. When you don't speak the language you seem to always take the line "its better to ask for forgiveness than permission". Verona is a special city. The old town, behind the medieval walls, is hard to beat. It reminds me in many ways of Brugges. But this is the home of Romeo and Juliet and all things to do with love. Antonella and Julian did the impossible. They pulled together a fantastic wedding from half of Europe away. They mixed the traditions of English and Italian weddings beautifully. Apparently Italian weddings don't have speeches. Then most English weddings don't see the last speech finish at 10 past midnight. Yes, 12:10AM. I am grateful to have got the opportunity to work with such fantastic people in a truly magnificent location.
