Evan and Holly’s Dad’s Blog

Hi and welcome to my blog. Filled with images from my recent weddings, engagement shoots, portrait sessions and corporate work. Most importantly its a window into my world...a world where family takes an upper hand and I have the images to prove it. Hopefully you'll take a few minutes to browse and once addicted set the blog as a bookmark. If you have any comments please feel free to add them or just get in touch.

For The Record: The images that I put on the blog from recent weddings may not always be the best or even ones you might expect. They are things that I saw, that I like that I want to share. Sometimes they are part of a quirky story or show a tender or ironic side to a wedding.

A growing backlog has pushed me back to Fab Fours.  You still get all the fun of the extra images on the Facebook Preview Gallery, just a little less wit and wisdom (or mindless chatter as most people call it).  Heidi and Simon were a referral from Heidi’s sister, Kerry.  I shot Kerry and Paul’s wedding back in 2007.  I remembered so much about their day….everything except how Kerry (and by default Heidi’s) dad is one bad-a** public speaker.  I used to say his was one of the best FOB speeches I had every seen/heard.  Now I have to say it was two of the best.

The Devil is in…

the details.  Or so I’m told.  A few years ago everyone wanted guest shots…now, if you believe the wedding blogs its all about details.  I wonder if that’s because showing random guests isn’t in their remit (IOW, it ain’t kosher to put people you know nothing about on your blog) or because it just gives folks something random and cool to talk about.  Now it seems the masses have followed and its all about details.  Surely there is a middle ground.  A photographer who see a number of aspects.  I like to think that’s me.  Why?  Well, I’ve never really tried to pigeon hole myself.  I’m not a photojournalist although I take a lot of photojournalism…I’m not a traditionalist but I do shoot formals (and a full length shot for mum).  I don’t try to be all things to all people and I suspect my portfolio proves that.  But I do tick a variety of boxes because that’s what I want to shoot.  I’m a part time photojournalist with documentary tendencies who can sometimes be attacked by a case of the traditional whilst at the same time feeling rather glamorous (but not in a perverse way) who loves a good story, some funky details and a great laugh.

So here…for all you detailites out there.

Or is it Chris..I get William to Bill and even Richard to Dick.  But Chris to Bill.  Can you say witness protection?

The last few weeks have been crazy busy.  Certainly that’s a good thing in my business.  The next few will be equally as busy.  Still a good thing.  One of things that I learned was a better way to blog…or at least what I think is better.  So here are a few images from Saturday’s Warwickshire wedding at Sherbourne Park of Natalie and (ahem) Bill.  But it would be great if after having a look you were to pop on over to the Shootinghip Facebook Business page to have a gander at near 100 images (including these below).  Who knows, you may like what you see and start looking at a few others and find yourself clicking on the ‘Like’ button.
