Remembering…Lainston House
Posted by: | CommentsIts that time of year when everybody starts their retrospective into the past year. The ones on TV can really draw you in. “Top 500 Movie Moments” or “100 Great Urinals in Scotland”. Whenever I try to do the same for a year in wedding photography it always just turns into a mass of indecision and I eventually give up. In fact, I still have the start of one from 2009 in my drafts folder on the blog. So instead, I felt it might be easier to eat the elephant in smaller bites and perhaps, and I’m going to go totally wacky on this one, perhaps even bust out of 2010 and go even further back. To prove I’m not just all talk and no jeggings I’m actually going back to July 2009 to Lainston House and the wedding of Catherine and James. The key in the ‘Remembering’ series is to show something different to the original post. Things that pop out at me in 200px thumbnails that weren’t in the original. So that’ exactly what I have done. Of course, the fact that I really love Lainston House has nothing to do with it. Yep, I’m lying. Some venues you get to a few times and then for one reason or another it fades from memory. This is one Hampshire wedding venue I want to be burned into my mind.

Hampshire Wedding Photography – Catherine and James, Lainston House
Posted by: | CommentsI do hope that everyone who books Lainston House decides to go for the magnificent Larry…toastmaster extraordinarre! I wish he could come to all my weddings (of course apart from those at The Elvetham where of course Eric, the other toastmaster extraordinarre hangs). Toastmasters aside Saturday was a wet affair. From all accounts its true of just about every wedding vaguely in the south. I discovered a hole in the bottom of shoe and spent the entire day with a wet foot. Regardless it was still a laugh getting through it all…the traffic, the weather…no matter because it was all about Catherine and James. Both a little camera shy and opted for perhaps the least amount of B&G shots ever…as in one. So off we go!

Most people write reminder messages on their hands…but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do

These things…they keep happening. Sorta like crop circles.

Hey Mum…isn’t she lovely! (its an in joke between me and her)

XXXXXX (the OOOOO came later)

Barefoot bride

WB gives its two fingers to me…but I like it

I do love the optimism…sadly the small gap in the forecast on the BBC weather site never materialised

My Just One (do check it out)

Patience

Being a mate, the best man offered to stand in just in case

When reversing be sure to use your choir view mirror

St Peter’s RC in Winchester. Awesome, lovely and parking to boot!

In a church that big you can get around a bit and not disturb anyone

+2 (accidentally) EC can sometimes lead to something more interesting

It really IS all around

This was just the best room ever to work in as a photographer…no, honest!

Make that 2…I forced them to stop for this. Sadly I couldn’t convince the staff to shuffle so I suppose she just needed to be part of the story

Kake (sic) — IOW, it was staged

“Choir view mirror…brilliant!”

It was one of those receiving lines that was great for guests and not so for the family (photographically speaking)

I kept asking myself “yes…but WHEN?”

Lovely!

At least we’ve proved he didn’t wing it

Hampshire Wedding Photography – Just One – Catherine and James
Posted by: | CommentsJust caught a lift home with Noah on the Ark. But I’m back safe and in one piece. Time for the ‘Just One‘ whilst I download the cards from today’s wedding. I’ve already told Catherine and James that today’s ‘Just One’ won’t have either of them in it. Nope, today its all about…MUM.

They say the mirror never lies…clearly Catherine’s mum wasn’t prepared to take any chances
