Evan and Holly’s Dad’s Blog

Hi and welcome to my blog. Filled with images from my recent weddings, engagement shoots, portrait sessions and corporate work. Most importantly its a window into my world...a world where family takes an upper hand and I have the images to prove it. Hopefully you'll take a few minutes to browse and once addicted set the blog as a bookmark. If you have any comments please feel free to add them or just get in touch.

For The Record: The images that I put on the blog from recent weddings may not always be the best or even ones you might expect. They are things that I saw, that I like that I want to share. Sometimes they are part of a quirky story or show a tender or ironic side to a wedding.

Great day out…although I reckon Evan enjoyed the Lego shop at the end best.  Who knows. (all taken with a Panasonic GF1 20mm)

I do hope that everyone who books Lainston House decides to go for the magnificent Larry…toastmaster extraordinarre!   I wish he could come to all my weddings (of course apart from those at The Elvetham where of course Eric, the other toastmaster extraordinarre hangs).  Toastmasters aside Saturday was a wet affair.  From all accounts its true of just about every wedding vaguely in the south.  I discovered a hole in the bottom of shoe and spent the entire day with a wet foot.  Regardless it was still a laugh getting through it all…the traffic, the weather…no matter because it was all about Catherine and James.  Both a little camera shy and opted for perhaps the least amount of B&G shots ever…as in one.  So off we go!

Got Something to Say? –

Another visit to Tithe Barn yesterday.  Anne and Clyde were keen to let me try new things…so I did.  So here I’m trying something a little different in processing and setup.  I learned a few things NOT to do on this but in the end I thought it was worth posting…if only to satisfy the curiosity of the subjects!

I’ve got another wedding today so look out for a few blog posts starting tomorrow lunchtime.

Got Something to Say? –

A week and a bit late on this one.  Wales was wonderful, if not a little wet.  We did have sunshine everyday…well, everyday after 2:00pm.  Strange climate.  But ultimately we had a great time as a family.  I won’t jibber for long or I’ll give it all away.  Back in a mo!

Some might think I blew the focus here…but in fact this is what I wanted (I have others).  The river was so much a part of Helen’s life that it seemed worth it to work it in.

Awww…bless, the bride plays with THE cutest baby ever.  Hey…wait a minute…that’s MY BABY!

Indeed it is Holly in this shot.  She turned up in a few.  Whilst it wasn’t officially take your daughter to work day it did work out logistically that the family came along to the bridal prep.  Not to worry…its probably never going to happen to you.  And since they were all comfortable in the back garden I’m still at a loss as to how Holly wound up in the house being cuddled by Ben’s sister.  Baby + Bridesmaids = coooooo.  Helen, her parents and the Bridesmaids all made us all feel very welcome.  Such is the bonus of working for referrals.

Some bright spark might ask “why take a shot of the bridesmaids getting gifts as a reflection in clock face”….well, as it was a staged experience set up by the video chap and I really didn’t want to appear as a guest star so I looked for other ways to document.  So…there you go.

The rest of the mini break went well.  With so many things to do, all aimed at families all we needed was a bit of dry space and we were off.  In a ironic twist we fell in love with a particular place…we spent a few hours laughing and playing, Holly was in her sling riding on me and Nicola and Evan were playing in the long wet sands.  Turns out that this is the same place that Helen and Ben got engaged…Newgale Beach.  We can certainly see the allure.  Thanks again for having us ‘out west’.

Tonight, whilst having a spot of tea and wondering what can you engage your man in conversation that doesn’t include Barack Obama or forthcoming nuptuals try this.

“You know honey what I love most about Formula 1″

(expect a glazed but amazed look)

“What’s that dear?”

“Its the fact that every race is 3 races in one.  You got the result on the day, the result that emerges a bit later on (sometimes twice in one week) and the result that is finally declared once the lawyers hash it out in the courtroom.  Great drama that!”

At this point he’s like butter in you hands (is that an expression?).

It seems clear to me that the FIA simply hate Lewis Hamilton.  They were totally miffed that with a bad car he still came third.  So, what is one to do…change the result to suit Bernie and the boys.  Besides, their beloved Ferrari didn’t do diddly!  Link here

Signed, Bitter in Liss
