Hannah and Vern – The Walled Garden at Cowdray
Posted by: | CommentsBack in the late 80s Toyota (yes, this is a blog post about a wedding in Midhurst) had a very annoying yet very addictive advertising campaign featuring a chap called Ernest (real name Jim Varney). In it Ernest was always trying to get his point across the mysterious ‘Vern’. “Hey Vern” was the battlecry and from there all things developed. Imagine when I get an email from a ‘Vern’ enquiring about wedding photography. To count them would be futile but the number of times in our consult meeting I wanted to say “hey Vern” were pushing more fingers and toes than I’ve got (so 20+ as I have the requisite number). Even on the wedding day I was tempted. But I knew it would mean nothing. So, for all you ‘Vern’ lovers out there. Click here to get in the game.
The star studded element didnt stop there. With Hannah and Vern being fans of a certain Westwood (yes, Tim Westwood, the DJ) they contacted him about DJ the wedding. Whilst Westwood replied that he doesn’t do weddings he did send a personal video message to them. How cool is that?
I was particularly taken in the colour choice for the wedding. White and grey. Sometimes a very dark grey at that. Not something I had seen before. Unique…just like Hannah and Vern. We dodged the rain, enjoyed the clouds and even did some RickRolling. What a great day. Thanks for having us around.
There will be a link to more images after these…so scroll down and then click at the bottom!

Posted by: | CommentsSometimes you wake up to hear “this could be the hottest day of the year”. In some situations you might reckon..fantastic. Perhaps if all you’ve got planned is a session by the pool or book under a tree in the park its some of the best news you’ve heard in a long time. But if you plan is get dressed up in a multi-layered dress or a tie and waist coat or if you’re the chump following the previous you might have second thoughts. So is the summer of 2010. Already better than the last 4 summers combined it shaping up to be something to be remembered (provided I haven’t just jinxed it). However I was wondering if it would be possible to arrange for say 2 hours of cloudy overcast skies between the hours of 1:30 and 3:30 every Saturday. Let’s push the boat out…let’s go for 12:30 to 4:30. Then it all goes away and we can all shine in the warm glow of the fading summer sun. No? OK, it was worth a shot.
Hot sun and a Yule Brenner hair cut aren’t the best of friends but with liberal sunscreen I can just about make it…and make it I did to Andrea and Matt’s Sensational Summer wedding at St Andrew’s Church in Farnham followed by a most lovely reception in the Walled Gardens at Cowdray in Midhurst. Two towns, two counties, too lovely. Andrea and Matt first met at Art College. Having ‘arty’ clients is always fun. You know things are going to be ‘just so’. Generally they are quite laid back about things and they didn’t let me down. Thanks to Andrea and Matt as well their friends and family AND the chap who kissed me for making us feel so welcome. As they say at the end of children’s programme….a good time was had by all!

Dandruff free
Its not about the shot…its about the content. Look around and you’ll get it.

Hmm…well….it’ll have to do :)

Its like an episode of SATC

In all my years of wedding photography-dom, I’ve never taken this shot. Go figure
ABC might call it ‘The Look of Love’. I call it 39C under that dress and boy she knows it.
My Just One…you know, honestly….you should become a fan!

It seemed an odd time to celebrate Ronan Keating’s entire back catalogue
Never trust a man in a purple tie — I’m just sayin’

Go on…you TELL me which aperture (they, and only they, will get it)
Judging by Matt’s position I reckon his next words were ’5-6-7-8′
Some might call it a marquee…others a tent…I just call it wicked

Today I’m not going for shots of the main players during the speeches…today its about the toasts

Crimewatch!
That’s NOT my beer and whilst I appreciate a man with a similar hair cut to mine I’m afraid a sneaky kiss on the cheek was as far as I was prepared to go!

That’s two classic faces from the same person…she’ll love me for it…really!

And Now a Few From Darren
Accidental Resevoir

I love this…because these guys aren’t just a guitar duo hired to entertain…they are friends of Andrea and Matt. Great shot Darren.

Posted by: | CommentsSometimes you find yourself in what seems to be the ‘second’ position. With Darren already poised at position A, I boogie up the stairs and take up a station just down from him…then I discover that perhaps I always had Position A! More late on Monday afternoon.
