Croeso i Little Haven
Posted by: | CommentsThat’s a mix of Welsh and English if you are wondering. So Pembrokeshire 2010 draws to a close and what a great week its been. The weather has been great .. well, great for this part of Wales. Evan went bodyboarding, the wife bought a wet suit and Holly…well, she’s still her demanding determined little self. I think she still believes she can change the tides.

Legoland
Posted by: | CommentsGreat day out…although I reckon Evan enjoyed the Lego shop at the end best. Who knows. (all taken with a Panasonic GF1 20mm)

Rub a Dub Dub
Posted by: | CommentsHolly in the tub. Check out those amazing curls. I had the same curls (yes, it IS true) when I was a child. Women used to tell me how jealous they were of my hair. Clearly I peaked too soon!

Niños

Samson or The US Open Champ?
Posted by: | CommentsHah. I’m pretty open about my metrosexual appreciation of Glee. Sometimes the singing gets to me. I hear ya .. “eh, isn’t that what its all about”. Yes and no. Whoever writes the scripts is a genius. Anyone who believes that this show is for the teenage kids it portrays you are sadly mistaken. First, think of the music. Journey, REO Speedwagon, John Denver, Color Me Badd, Young MC, Billy Idol. Yes, I know there’s some Lily Allen, Christina, Madonna and Beyonce but anyone brave enough to put Rick Springfield’s “Jessie’s Girl” on a ‘teen’ show has a major set. But for me its the dialogue. You have to listen hard, follow it close but you get some gems. Here are few favourites:
“While Jackie Daniels is a great name for a power boat or something, it’s not great for a baby girl.”
“I’m a sex shark. If I stop moving, I die.”
But my favourite is:
“I feel like that guy that lost all his hair and lost all his strength.”
“Samson?”
“Agassi.”
Someone writes this…and boy are the good at it.
Jimmy Buffet once said that he was glad he didn’t live in a trailer…I reckon if I had him bare chested I could call it an Ode to Sally Mann photo

Evan got to stay up late and watch Toy Story 2 on my laptop
Tough plot…stay with it!
The music when Bullseye reveals the shrine to Woody is SOO inspired by Aaron Copeland’s Appalachian Spring
There’s a site (far right) I wouldn’t have guessed you would ever see in my house a few years ago
For the record, I’ve recently got a Panasonic GF1 with a 20mm 1.7 lens. I’ve searched (and even bought) compact digital cameras in the past. I was totally unconvinced by the genre. Then I heard about this camera, had a look at some info, nabbed a few files from a friend and made the leap. I can honestly say that it is the BEST compact camera I’ve ever seen or used. Fast focusing, nice optics (in the 20mm 1.7), great video (720) and proper shutter sound (not a WAV file but a real shutter). If you’ve been searching, I suggest you take a look. All of the images above (and from here on if you notice an image in 16:9 format you’ll know its the GF1 — BTW, you can shoot in 4:3, 3:2 or 16:9…I just like the 16:9 for something completely different to my usual).
Holly Walks
Posted by: | CommentsConsidering Nicola bet me in October that she would be walking by Christmas I can officially say this has been a long time coming. Bless her. She’s been walking with a walker for ages…walking whilst holding on to two fingers (tight) for a few weeks and most recently just lightly grabbing one finger. But Wednesday she threw caution to the wind and went for it. After a few minutes we were doing loops around the house. She’s very pleased with herself and is eager to show anyone new her wicked new tricks. This could be get VERY interesting.
