That’s Awfully Nice of You

Ironically, for someone very open about things there are a few things that make me uncomfortable. I’m not referring to my mankini but in fact praise from my clients. OK, I do love it, I’ve just never been big on telling the world about it. So every now and then I get a four pack of wine coolers and a funnel and get up the ‘courage’ to share some comments.

Let’s start with Liz and Lee at Clandon Park:

We just wanted to say a huge thank you for our wedding pictures. They are absolutely amazing & we are overwhelmed!! You have captured every emotion of the day. We love the DVD & have watched it about 10 times already, with me shedding a tear every time!! Thank you for all your hard work in ensuring our pictures are so fantastic. We are so pleased with the end result!!

Aww…bless. Really guys, making you and your wedding look good was like taking candy from a baby (come to think of it, bad analogy…when Holly gets something she wants she won’t let go)

Now…let’s move on to Belen and Damon at Rhinefield House:

Just to say a big big thank you, we had a look through the photos last night and this morning, they are fabulous and your music choices were also fantastic!!!

Again, thank you to both you and Darren, they were beyond our expectations, just wonderful!!

Gee…how nice, and its a Facebook message from Honeymoon. Take a helicopter, a hot bride, a model groom and a fab venue, toss in some fun family and friends and … let’s be honest. It was a doddle!

A quick Facebook message from Natalie and Marcus on Honeymoon:

C’mon…you’re being too kind. Temple Church, the urban life of London and a room lit like an oscars ceremony. I should be thanking you!

Thank you very much for the discs, we are over the moon with the photographs, thanks so much, it was a lovely surprise to get them so soon after our honeymoon.

Thank you so much for the amazing job you did at our wedding. The photos look more than incredible and we are receiving very good feedback from everyone that sees them. Dan, my usher, thought they looked like something out of Hello magazine (!).

Surely not the same Hello with direct flash and awful shadows. I’ll just chalk that one up to being new at this (Dan, not me).

I don’t want to go over board on this…but then there’s some nice comments from guests I get as well:

I cannot wait to see more … the photos you have posted thus far are just stunning… amazingly beautiful!

Video Workshop

This will probably really grate some of my photographer colleagues, but I’m going to plug a wee video workshop run by my good friends Sylvia and Niels from Ever After Video Productions. Why? Well, we all know that videographers are CRAZY. They’re impossible to work with and leave tripods laying around all over the place. WELL….not all of them. In fact, everyone you find on my list of great wedding suppliers are all top notch. So wouldn’t it be great if there were mo better videos (sorry Spike). So I decided if you can’t beat’em, join’em. So next February, in the foothills of the Black Mountains I’ll be the resident photographer and general bad guy (oh yes, videographers think the same things about us as we do about them) and join in the ‘education’. No, not as a videographer, but as a photographer and how videographers can work well with photographers…in all honesty, I’m pretty easy to work with. So, if by participating I open the door to a few new videographers who have more respect of the still framed friends I reckon I will have acheived my goal.

Hey Barrack….Let’s See Your Shoes!

Ahhh…the dawning of the age of Aquarius is upon us. Last night, my fellow compadres voted in the 44th President of the United States of America (please, upon re-reading that last statement, do stand up and place your hand over your heart and on completion say “God Bless America”). Who would have thought 4 years ago that the US would see its first African-American president. What would MLK (that’s Martin Luther King to rest of you) think? As for me…I thought W was a shoe in…oh…did he run? Anywho…I hope that the world and, in fact, the emphatic Obama supporters know that the change, whilst easy to say, ain’t a bed of roses.

For the past week I’ve been asked a bazillion (yes, that’s really a number) times if a) I voted and b) if I did, who did I vote for. Well, to answer your questions…(its almost as if I read your mind).

a) I did NOT vote…I don’t live there, it ain’t my call, I don’t have to reap the benefits or the consequences
b) Had I voted I would have voted BO…not, not body odour but Barrack Obama. Hey…the US needs change. Not to be unpatriotic but lets look at it this way. George Bush Sr…fighter pilot, crap president. George Bush Jr…fighter pilot (National Guard), crap president. Bill Clinton…draft dodger (or so the claim goes), great president, great statesman, partial to a bit of nookie (hey, who ain’t). John McCain…fighter pilot…well, we’ll never know, huh.
