Continuing my short theme. Man its summer. Not just in the weather but in the number of weddings I’m seeing. I love them. I hope you do too. Because over the next few weeks you’re going to see loads.
Time now for Jo and Richard. A lovely couple married at Bury Court Barn. Jo has a special job in being…well, I’m not sure what I’m supposed to call it…but it seems like a nanny. What she does is build some wonderful bonds with children and families and I was lucky enough to see on of the families she’s worked with at the wedding. Parents as guests and the children as Bridemaids. I was rather moved by how much Jo meant to these folks. A feeling I can easily relate to getting to know her just a wee bit.
Of course Richard had his own uniqueness too. His love of (not so fast) cars (which eventually did lead to a very fast car). His wild friends and the things that grown men can get up to with a golf club and bare bottom. A watershed moment for sure.
Thanks to you both for having us along.

Just about my favourite place ever!

There’s a wonderful back story to this…but it would just spoil ALL the fun!

Thumbs up to Dad

People love me…really they do

And now a few from Darren

Here’s a hint…its two images

Another rapid fire blog post. I’m nearly there in the catching up stage…that is before I hit a triple wedding weekend. Then all bets are off! But today is all about Lucy and Jud (aka Judson — sounds like a US teen pop star). As a wedding photographer (and a recommended one at Bury Court…not that this has anything to do with my next comment but sometimes you just gotta grease the g00gle wheel) you stand at the front of a ceremony and think to yourself “so which one of this lot is going to be superb camera fodder?”. What I mean is, sobriety is a leveler and champagne…well, that disrupts the balance of life. A bit like forgetting to punch in the numbers every 118 minutes. I’m guessing over the closing holes of this post you’ll begin to learn of all the loose canons. My favourite part of the day…that down time between the end of speeches and the first dance at a summer wedding. Amazing what people can get up to. I love you all for it as well!
There are a few more on Facebook. TBH, they were posted the night of the wedding so I can’t recall how different they are. But I’ll post the link to them at the bottom.

Mirror, mirror (well, picture frame, picture frame) .. tea or coffee?

You can be as old as you like…and even on your wedding day…but Dad still gets the job of reminding you of THE TIME!

Bless him

Clearly it runs in the family
As promised…a link to the Facebook Gallery of Lucy and Jud’s Bury Court Wedding
No…I’ve not left this green (and now sunny) earth. I’ve been totally maxed out catching up with weddings as well as a trip away and childcare things. Welcome to Summer!
So…I’m not going to say much for this one (or the next few TBH). What I will say is Lisa and Simon are two fantastic people. They have some wicked friends and crazy families and all of that in a good way. Both Darren and I had a blast hanging out with them at Gate Street Barn. We cannot thank you enough for having us.
In a break from tradition there won’t be any Facebook gallery. This is at the request of Lisa and Simon. However, I did post a few more just after the wedding which you can find here!

She’ll love me…honest!

OK…this blows the whole flirting with the Sister of the Bride right out the water!

Kinda like Octoberfest

And now for the top 10 reasons you MUST have Darren!

Its been a while since I ventured to the other end of Hampshire. Seems like most of my weddings these days are either on the east or in Surrey. For my money a great day out is any day that doesn’t include a motorway. So already this was a winner for me. It was also the third in a triple weekend of wedding goodness so being a short distance from home was also a welcome plus.
I had met Laura and Colin a few years back at the ‘Vogue’ weds ‘National Geographic’ wedding at Bury Court Barn. No…that’s not their real names. I am, in fact, referring to Rachel and Nick. She oozed at the camera and he was more, well, matter of fact. If your friends say a lot about you then I guess this makes sense. Laura is much more Vogue to Colin’s National Geographic. Although Colin being a bit of wild one would probably be found in the topless indigenous tribe part of the magazine. Have I said too much?
Having shot at the church before a number of years ago I remember quite a lot of the layout. I had forgotten, however, about how the vicar likes you in the choir stalls. Close, yes…ideal, no. Luckily I had Darren at the back for a bit. The new bit to the day was The Village Hotel. Its a DeVere property trading under their “Urban Resorts” umbrella. Very trendy indeed. Lots of dark grey walls and downlighters. It was never going to be straight forward. A quick scan of the location before the wedding and I had a few locations in mind. I then went for a little stroll and found a couple of things that blew my mind. Albeit not part of the hotel there is a sexy car park just behind. I know…who shoots in a car park. (raises hand) Then there’s what’s left of a WW2 aircraft engine testing hangar which is part of the Farnborough Airfield. When I say what’s left, its not as if its in a state of disrepair. Its kind of a local monument. Its probably best seen and not described. Stay tuned for that. In any event my heart was set. The wind was up and I figured I had a tough sell in getting them to walk the 200 yds or so to get to Area 51.
When I arrived at the house I bumped into Laura’s Dad out front. He forewarned me. I’m not sure if he was thinking I wouldn’t be interested or whether I would think the weather was too extreme but he wanted to let me know that Colin and Laura are really keen on getting some photos out at the aircraft hangar. RESULT!
Below is a small selection. There’s a load more coming but bonehead here forgot to upload them to Facebook before I left on a short break. So more in a week.
I should have insisted I appear only in gold
Its a look!
