Don’t Feel Like Dancin’
Posted by: | CommentsWell, it might not have been the thing the Scissors Sisters wanted but when you boil it down it generally is what happens in the evening at most weddings. I’m lucky in that most all of my clients are keen for me to ‘record’ this part of the day. However, I’m appealing to those folks who think “ahh…who wants to see a bunch of slightly inebriated people dance like chickens?”. Let me tell you sister (or brother or both)….YOU DO! I can speak from experience great evening photos are gold. The fodder lasts a lifetime and the power you have over your friends on Facebook is unparalleled. And don’t think “ah…I’ll just get a friend to take some ‘snaps’!”. Because this is, one of the most difficult parts of the day, where the shape of a room, the time of day, unused but exceedingly large lighting implements and DJ lights all have an impact. Below are some examples of some of my favourites (and to be honest I simply ran out of time and just stopped part way through my client folder).
Painshill Park, Cobham
Luton Hoo

Kew Gardens, Cambridge House
Eltham Palace

Gate Street Barn

The Delfina, London

Sherbourne Park

Cowdray Walled Gardens

Solitaire Secret Weapon
Posted by: | CommentsMy wife’s vice is solitaire. If she comes anywhere within a 2 meter radius of computer and she has to have a game. She was most disappointed when we switched to Mac a few years ago. It doesn’t come with Solitaire as standard. Yes…I actually bought it. Today…she found her secret strategic weapon!

Music Photographer – Band Photography
Posted by: | CommentsIts been an interesting week. An interesting couple of weeks actually. Last week I was still recovering from a documentary photography workshop in Brighton. Late (and I mean really late) nights and long days plus a heck of party to round it off left feeling like death on Thursday. In fact, on Friday I had to take two (yes two) naps to get through the day. Luckily that was all it took…never before had I ever felt like a serious case of jetlag without actually flying. This past week was the return to normal, digesting what I had got up to and looking forward (or not so) to Thursday…my 40th birthday. They say life begins at 40. Nice. I’ll let you know in a year or so. I don’t feel any older so perhaps its true. This Saturday we’re having a party complete with a few ‘tricks up my sleeve’. Should be interesting with pictures to match. Just think Fancy Dress — American themed.
Wednesday was groovy too. A great new band contacted me to take some photos for some of their promotional material. I found an excellent new location only hundreds of yards from the house and met some great people. Here are a few images that I really liked. All images are natural light and I enjoy seeing how simple changes can make effective the same image feel different.
