That’s Awfully Nice of You
Posted by: | CommentsIronically, for someone very open about things there are a few things that make me uncomfortable. I’m not referring to my mankini but in fact praise from my clients. OK, I do love it, I’ve just never been big on telling the world about it. So every now and then I get a four pack of wine coolers and a funnel and get up the ‘courage’ to share some comments.
Let’s start with Liz and Lee at Clandon Park:
We just wanted to say a huge thank you for our wedding pictures. They are absolutely amazing & we are overwhelmed!! You have captured every emotion of the day. We love the DVD & have watched it about 10 times already, with me shedding a tear every time!! Thank you for all your hard work in ensuring our pictures are so fantastic. We are so pleased with the end result!!
Aww…bless. Really guys, making you and your wedding look good was like taking candy from a baby (come to think of it, bad analogy…when Holly gets something she wants she won’t let go)
Now…let’s move on to Belen and Damon at Rhinefield House:
Just to say a big big thank you, we had a look through the photos last night and this morning, they are fabulous and your music choices were also fantastic!!!
Again, thank you to both you and Darren, they were beyond our expectations, just wonderful!!
Gee…how nice, and its a Facebook message from Honeymoon. Take a helicopter, a hot bride, a model groom and a fab venue, toss in some fun family and friends and … let’s be honest. It was a doddle!
A quick Facebook message from Natalie and Marcus on Honeymoon:
Hi Rob!!! We will call you when we’re back from honeymoon but just wanted to tell you we think you are THE best photographer we’ve ever had the good fortune to find!! Hope you’ve seen all the messages from friends
C’mon…you’re being too kind. Temple Church, the urban life of London and a room lit like an oscars ceremony. I should be thanking you!
Time for a river dance from Lisa and Michael at The Wharf Teddington:
Thank you very much for the discs, we are over the moon with the photographs, thanks so much, it was a lovely surprise to get them so soon after our honeymoon.
Thanks again, we are very very happy and will be recommending you to any friends of ours looking for a photographer.
Looks like we didn’t need a bigger boat. Thanks guys. Really, it was a breeze!
Then there’s Peta and Philip at Manor Barn, Buriton:
Thank you so much for the amazing job you did at our wedding. The photos look more than incredible and we are receiving very good feedback from everyone that sees them. Dan, my usher, thought they looked like something out of Hello magazine (!).
Surely not the same Hello with direct flash and awful shadows. I’ll just chalk that one up to being new at this (Dan, not me).
I don’t want to go over board on this…but then there’s some nice comments from guests I get as well:
AMAZING photos! Just wanted to say that when I get my man to make an honest woman out of me, you are booked!!
I cannot wait to see more … the photos you have posted thus far are just stunning… amazingly beautiful!
It was a pleasure to meet you on Saturday, and to have someone of your energy (I’m an acupuncturist, forgive the speak!) around made the atmosphere even more enjoyable!
They are awesome! Once I find a groom you are booked for my pics!
What amazing pictures – would love to see the complete collection.
Woooooowowowowowowwo!!!! Best wedding photos ever!!!! Bride and groom look stunning and soooo happy!!! Had to find internet access in our hotel in Portugal – took ages but more than worth it!!!!
Well..the buzz is wearing off and I’m since I’ve only got Black Tower left I’ll leave it at that. I reckon, you got the point.
Wedding Photographer Guildford – Charley and Matt – Just One
Posted by: | CommentsSome days you wake up, the rain is falling, the forecast is for more of the same and you just want to cover up under the duvet and start again. You assume that you work your buns off to get just enough whilst fighting against the elements. Then, you turn the corner and something hits you. That happened to me today. I knew I had a great day ahead but when I woke to rain knowing that today was about a marquee in the garden I really never expected something wicked. But it happened. I’ve learned over the years that if I see something and I get a brainwave I almost always have to see that brainwave through. Otherwise I go home and think about what could have been. Because of this I knew I couldn’t leave this in the ‘woulda been nice’ column. I must thank Darren the wonderboy who contributed the solution to me reflector problem. Thanks Mr D. So…here’s my Just One!
Who knew there was a plug (old style two pin at that) in road out front!
Pre-Wedding Shoot – London – Emma and Effi
Posted by: | CommentsSo far the rebel youth hasn’t been in contact to ask for image rights. I’m safe…for now. But I do want to share a bit more of the shoot I did with Emma and Effi last week in London. I’m sure we picked the busiest day in history. With the fabulous weather and the fact it was a Friday I’m sure there thousands more people around than normal. Saying that, I reckon it worked just fine…who doesn’t like a challenge? Due to time constaints I’m not going to be making excessive comments today. I’ll be joining Emma and Effi in Tel Aviv for their wedding soon…time for lots of comments then :)

Samson or The US Open Champ?
Posted by: | CommentsHah. I’m pretty open about my metrosexual appreciation of Glee. Sometimes the singing gets to me. I hear ya .. “eh, isn’t that what its all about”. Yes and no. Whoever writes the scripts is a genius. Anyone who believes that this show is for the teenage kids it portrays you are sadly mistaken. First, think of the music. Journey, REO Speedwagon, John Denver, Color Me Badd, Young MC, Billy Idol. Yes, I know there’s some Lily Allen, Christina, Madonna and Beyonce but anyone brave enough to put Rick Springfield’s “Jessie’s Girl” on a ‘teen’ show has a major set. But for me its the dialogue. You have to listen hard, follow it close but you get some gems. Here are few favourites:
“While Jackie Daniels is a great name for a power boat or something, it’s not great for a baby girl.”
“I’m a sex shark. If I stop moving, I die.”
But my favourite is:
“I feel like that guy that lost all his hair and lost all his strength.”
“Samson?”
“Agassi.”
Someone writes this…and boy are the good at it.
Jimmy Buffet once said that he was glad he didn’t live in a trailer…I reckon if I had him bare chested I could call it an Ode to Sally Mann photo
Pudge and the Boy
Evan got to stay up late and watch Toy Story 2 on my laptop
Tough plot…stay with it!
The music when Bullseye reveals the shrine to Woody is SOO inspired by Aaron Copeland’s Appalachian Spring
There’s a site (far right) I wouldn’t have guessed you would ever see in my house a few years ago
For the record, I’ve recently got a Panasonic GF1 with a 20mm 1.7 lens. I’ve searched (and even bought) compact digital cameras in the past. I was totally unconvinced by the genre. Then I heard about this camera, had a look at some info, nabbed a few files from a friend and made the leap. I can honestly say that it is the BEST compact camera I’ve ever seen or used. Fast focusing, nice optics (in the 20mm 1.7), great video (720) and proper shutter sound (not a WAV file but a real shutter). If you’ve been searching, I suggest you take a look. All of the images above (and from here on if you notice an image in 16:9 format you’ll know its the GF1 — BTW, you can shoot in 4:3, 3:2 or 16:9…I just like the 16:9 for something completely different to my usual).
Pre-Wedding Shoot in London – Emma and Effi – Just One
Posted by: | CommentsI wouldn’t normally do a Just One from a pre wedding shoot. But then sometimes…there’s just something that you never planned for that suddenly pops into your viewfinder and you can’t hold it back. OK…I’ll admit, this may never end up on their wall. Working in the thick of it all is often annoying, but when it deals you lemons, make a Tom Collins! More next week…no weddings this weekend.
Rebel yutes!
Wedding Photographer London – Natalie and Marcus
Posted by: | CommentsFunny…I was just looking on Natalie’s Facebook news feed and someone called Marcus ‘Marcoos’. I’m wondering if they too are referring to that Eddie Murphy film where the aging vixen calls him ‘Marrr-coooos’. Never mind. Saturday’s epic journey took us to London…the big smoke, up town, Londres. Waterloo was especially interesting given all the football fans en route to the FA cup final. Unlike last year, our trip to London didn’t involve lots of public transportation nightmares and even if they did we were prepared to take them head on.
Working at Temple Church was an amazing experience to say the least. The reception took place at The Delfina. An amazing venue space in a converted chocolate factory. The lightening engineers did some amazing work (even if it was nearly impossible for us to work in…ok, not impossible, but pretty ‘interesting’). Saying that, what we’ve got, in my opinion is bloody brilliant given the environment (photographically…I must emphasise my basis is from a purely photographic viewpoint). By far the darkest space I’ve worked in. But let’s just let the photos do the talking. You might think based on my comments I would never go back…and you’d be wrong. I loved it!
Best of luck to Natalie and Marcus and have a great honeymoon

D-I-S-C-O! Actually it wasn’t…there was a band… an AMAZING band called Fake Tan. I think you have to have a serious set of ‘ahems’ to open up a set with Duran Duran ‘Hungry Like the Wolf’. But these guys clearly did have that set and it rocked. Totally rocked. I can now add these guys to the list of my all time top bands (along with The All-Stars and Madhen). Totally brilliant!
And a few from my Rockstar sidekick…DARREN!
Darren would like to say that Delfina lighting was a walk in the park compared to the cellars at the Ye Old Cheshire Cheese pub

Sweet…he scares me sometimes when he thinks just like me
Proof, unlike Roswell, that I do formals
BTW…this a ‘damn you Darren’ moment. Love it!
