Kent Wedding Photography – Natasha and Joe
Posted by: | CommentsIt had been a while since I’d been to Kent. Quite a long while actually. Luckily I was spared the M25 traffic and apart from following the post code via SatNav only to learn it took you to entirely the WRONG village the travels were just fine…
I often get clients who are really into photography. But I knew this one would be different. He’s a cameraphile and she…well, she just likes pretty pictures. So finding the balance was always going to be the end goal. I reckon that we managed it. After all, for a lot of the day its straight down the line. I do like to stretch things when I get the chance but not on everything.
Darren (or Dazza as Nicola likes to call him)…well, we did share a moment in the car. I remembered a touching story (not really that touching) about a trip he made to Newquay where him and his mates played Boston’s ‘More Than a Feeling’ on level 11 for the entire trip. I love Boston so I downloaded it onto my iPhone, told him to look away as I cue’d it up…something special just for him. He was well chuffed and said “I should make a tape for you of all the songs I like that I reckon you’ll like”. Silence fell upon the car. How exactly do you reply to that. Like yes, I buy you dinner and yes I’ve even shared a bed in a £9 travelodge when you *coughs* say you forgot your PJs and yes I downloaded ‘More than a Feeling’…but dude…don’t get the wrong idea! I’m a happily married man…
Before I turn you over to the photos I would like to quickly mention Simone from Dimples Events. I won’t lie to you…some wedding organisers deserve a padded cell. Thankfully Simone isn’t one of them. I really, really enjoyed working with them and they ensured everything ran smoothly. A bonus for sure!
No it ain’t crooked…its called character
My weekly sacrifice to the God of Shoes

Cousin It
Finally … she faces the light! :)
One location, 3 different pictures — think of it as green photography – IOW, recycling

Don’t let the hair styles fool you…they are brothers
Chicken…I could eat some chicken

Joe’s Dad
Next time…leave the clown nose at home
Demonstrating the ‘proper’ way to release confetti into the wild
Anyone else see the resemblence? No…ok, moving swiftly along

Hey look..its my Just One. Why not pop on over and become a fan. You know you want to…all the cool kids are doing it!

Why do women ALWAYS put the table butterflies in their…well…you know?

A scene from Full Metal Photography: “You want a silhouette…you pick the wrong camera with too much dust…so what do you do..tell me boy…WHAT DO YOU DO!” “Sir, yes, sir…make it arty, add 3 textures and 5 filters and hope no one notices” “Damn straight Private…now drop and give me 20!”

Aww…bless. Tissue please.

I have no idea…but by the end of listening to this table laugh their backsides off (no really, all there, laid out on the floor), I was in stitches as well
…the moment she realised that her special toast, touching and heartfelt, seemed to lack the “and by the way, Sarkis (the groom’s brother and best man and no haired diva) are engaged” that everyone was waiting for
Stuff…no one said you had to like it
You can leave your tent on
Dance….the night away
And now a few from tape making ‘friend’ … Darren
It’s simple…its clean…nice one D
Ordinary image in a way…but it will always remind them how Joe and Sarkis had to make a swift exit as Nastash’s car turned into the lane they were walking
Shoot manual…and they will come

They did this…ALOT
Leave him with the Mark2 and watch his eyes light (Darren I mean)

We would love to hear from you (family, guests etc…) so please feel free to leave a comment!
Kent Wedding Photography – Natasha and Joe – Just One
Posted by: | CommentsPicking Just One was difficult (as usual I suppose). He was into my creative capture and she was just a girl who likes nice piccies. So here it is…more to follow…ON TUESDAY. I have a corporate job on Monday (sorry, Joe, I gave you duff info). If you are a Monday only visitor do scroll down. I did a wedding on Thursday at Buxted Park.

Buxted Park Wedding Photography – Chrissy and Arnon
Posted by: | CommentsI hated this wedding…
No seriously…hated it. I mean, great light, great couple, great guests, great weather, great location…how the hell does it get any better. I’ve seen utopia and damnit, I want it back!
Joking aside yesterday, yes…a Thursday, was just wonderful. Wedding photographers love weekday weddings…and even more so when you get [....] (see the long list of ‘greats’ above). As an added ‘bonus’ Chrissy and Arnon have asked if I could prepare a few more images to display at their Israeli wedding which takes place next weekend. As a result I picked out a bit more than usual and found it hard to cull back to the usual 30ish. I’ll also post a Facebook gallery to see more. I’m really excited about the images…there is SO much more to come as well!

It’s a little game I like to call ‘Ask Rafael’

This is a total cockup (is that a naughty word)? Meaning I’ve got a button near my ‘next’ button that sometimes I accidentally hit. It runs part of an action (Photoshop speak), executes the ‘next’ and then restarts somewhere in the middle. The net effect was this…and boy did I like it! Happy accident.

Chrissy, a loyal blog follower, challenged me to do something interesting with flat shoes. I reckon this will suffice.

“I gotta be me!”

Not a setup shot actually…
Oh yes…in literature we call this ‘foreshadowing’

Arnon was organising all day
Last minute dash to put some holly on the Chuppah…
..giving time for Chrissy to get a little anxious….
…but ultimately decide to enter (at least to the beginning of the aisle) with her heart-shaped glasses (foreshadowing complete)
Yep…very little during the ceremony. It would appear Rabbis and Vicars have more in common than they think
LIGHT…it does a body good

Arnon’s favourite part of the day

No OCF…just great light

He said he wanted a ‘Lord of the Manor’ shot. I wasn’t expecting Lord Flashheart (do your own Blackadder research)

Ribbit
Chrissy made all the table decorations and wrote a note to each guest

Arnon avoids a speech and opts for a song…

Recreating a scene from Shawshank Redemption? No, releasing a candle lantern
The video man (Steve…top bloke) and video light. Ta very much!
Make that Ta to the power of 2
Unfortunately we couldn’t do the latern launch about an hour earlier (the one of the B&G was a special one done…well…about an hour earlier) to get more blue in the sky…but it was still pretty cool.

This image CANNOT be explained
In the words of Simba “oh I just can’t wait to be King”
Don’t forget, there are loads more from this wedding on my Facebook fan page. If you like what you see do select ‘Become a Fan’.
The Long Journey
Posted by: | CommentsThere are times when, no matter how old you are, you just can’t shake that schoolboy mentality. For instance, last week Nicola officially stopped breastfeeding Holly. Each stage of her growth brings new excitement and at the same time a few disappointments. Both Evan and Holly are products of IVF. Not only expensive, its also draining on your emotions. So we decided that two was enough. So each little stage means a little bit further away from things we’ll never, as parents, see again. Breastfeeding was, I suspect, a firm grasp on Holly’s infant status and when the time came to give it up Nicola was a little bit sad. With the scene set here’s the screenplay:
Nicola: “Well that’s it…I’m done. No more breastfeeding.”
Rob: “You OK with it? You know that its the best thing for her now.”
Nicola: “Well…I can’t say that I’m not a bit sad. I mean, me and my boobs…we’ve been on a long journey together.”
Cue Beavis and Butthead style giggling from yours truly…partly for the many visions of comedy genius going through my mind and partly in anticipation of just what pearl of wisdom was about to pop out of my dear wife’s mouth.
Nicola: “Seriously…it was my boobs that told me I was pregnant with Evan and Holly. They’ve always been there for me”
Rob: “Yeah love…whatever!”
I suppose she has a point. What do I know anyhow? Not much apparently…of course I’ve still got the last scene of Thelma and Louise in my head. Take your pick who gets to play Nicola and her…ahem…other halves.

Cain Manor Wedding Photography – Lorna and Charlie
Posted by: | CommentsShame her name wasn’t Lola…I can see it now:
Charlie: “I have this little Bride Lola…she’s small and very funny”
but then if you don’t have a toddler you probably won’t know what I’m on about — and if you fit that category perhaps you need to visit here.
Anyway…I haven’t been to Cain Manor since November of last year. Glad to see my Cain Manor weather magic still has so miles left. I’ve never shot there when its ever rained. Its a gift you see…and one I reckon other potential clients should recognise. Its just irresponsible to work with anyone else :)
I always love working there. Its part of my trio of wicked ceremony light (Hampton Court House, Clandon Park and Cain Manor…suspiciously ALL Surrey wedding venues). And…we’re off!

I love the hairspray — a little wierd I know

The boys chat outside — I love the fact that the Bride can watch everyone arrive but they can’t see her

Me(e,e,e,e) and Capt…Capt Jones

I didn’t really get funky with shoes (sorry fans)…but this is amusing…not a setup shot, it just happened

My Just One

it so easily could have been Just two

Charlie takes a moment

Yet another person who’s seen the inside of the Pulp Fiction briefcase…one day! one day I tell you!

Cue great light…and a double exposure? no, its Charlie’s twin brother Dave — yes…that’s right Chaz and Dave

To reply to Charlie’s comment in his speech…yes, I got it!

No…he’s not a Hobbit…its just the angle (in case there was any confusion)

The EU can take away 100W light bulbs…but they can’t take away this!

Exit

Pimms AND a snow cone…some people just don’t know when to stop

Yes…Cain Manor is all its cracked up to be

for once I keep a photo mainly for the person who isn’t the focus…the expression dead left rocks my world

Why yes…that is a watermelon and a pea…why do you ask?

Dad’s look makes this for me

Charlie’s mum (a mother of twins mind you)

Cathy..the greatest client I never had

As Roger Daltry once said — Foof Are You (foof, foof, foof, foof) (don’t worry, I wasn’t insulting you)

‘B’ stands for…well, her sister, but let’s not get picky about it eh..
Shoes in the bath, shoes in the microwave…now shoes on a wall light – TOP THAT!
Yovana plays Bride and MUA
Sometimes when I wander around (and this time as a result of a ‘comfort break’) I come across ‘stuff’. Not sure which wedding but I liked it.
Funny…I have the same list at home
I kind of realised after I did all my selections that there wasn’t much ‘Yovana’ from the blogged preps…its not intentional, I just have a quirky sense of ‘look-see’. This is, in fact, Yovana…or rather a quarter of Yovana’s face
Tough man…cuddly cup…bless
Once I had a client say “there are lots of dark things in your photos”. I was bemused. I finally concluded that I do often show ‘darker’ images on the blog. Mainly because I’m often quite pleased with them because often times they are a record of things that most photographers would have simply said “can’t do that” and walked away. There are, in fact, plenty of light things in my images as well. Check out a
Tie me up (I like it)

Dan (right), Best Man (left), Photographer (he’s behind you…no you…not them)
Don’t worry Yovana…we get to see lots of you SOON!
Shame little’n also wasn’t looking right…
D*** Vicars…yep, once again, nada in the church. Dan’s sister gives him a hug but bottles out of placing a ‘kick me’ sign on his back
4 Brides for 7 Brothers — there’s gonna be a fight — The Sisters Edwards
This chap just turned, looked and smiled. Probably the most natural smile of his life…I just like it. It ain’t extraordinary…just nice.
Oh so Trad

Rivendell — I’m the Hobbit
Well..I guess that’s me off the Christmas card list then
Yes…the yellow bits are part of the uncensored picture
