Thanks Very Much…
Posted by: | CommentsI’ve been very humbled over the last couple of weeks with all the wonderful comments on the blog and Facebook. Its been exciting to read everyone’s comments. They are certainly most appreciated (so in other words, please don’t stop :)
2 weddings behind now with 3 this weekend (yep, if you thought it was four things changed…it sounded very personal and very unexpected…my heart goes out to them). But there will be a few Just Ones on Saturday and Sunday evenings.

The family sit down to read all the nice comments…sorry, that’s a lie, Evan was playing on the Lego Website.
Buckinghamshire Wedding Photography – Jessica and Jason
Posted by: | CommentsBuckinghamshire isn’t exactly Brokeback Mountain but there are lots of horses. And horses are exactly what brought Jess and Jason together in the form of Polo. So it seemed that horses should play a major role in the day and on that front they didn’t disappoint. Horses on the invitations, the maps, a polo stick exit from the church, horse ride from the church to the reception, a gallop in the fields and even horses on the cake.

Nope…that’s not Jess

And neither is this…

The fetish continues…here combining two in one

Ahah! Jess! Telling her mum how lovely she looks. Bless.

Kanye…no…Nelly…no…USHER!

Random

Jason marries big wall…ok, not really…but this was a tough church to work in. Granted I could have stood at the back (and that is, in fact, what Darren did), but there was always going to be something more emotive if I could get to the front. Look for things and they are often there…

Like this…

…and this

..but my reward came in a wonderful unobstructed view of this..WHICH…

put me in pole position for the first hugs…

…and a happy mum of the groom

Teaches me to say cheese

Cruel and unusual

My Just One

5 short but still rather Magnificent

The following is a public service announcement

The use of Benadryl and shotgun shells is strictly forbidden!

What’s wrong (or perhaps right) about this photo? They both have2 drinks…possibly?

Mambo No 5

The FOB picked an odd time to pay homage to Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’

Before you ask…totally normal

The bonus of imaginary drinks is that
a) you never have to queue at the bar
b) your drink never gets warm in the summer sunshine
c) the paracetamol you take in the morning is strictly for placebo purposes

Jason has an endearing (yet chronically late) personality. He had all the women and half the blokes in tears…all because he consistently misses birthdays, anniveraries and holidays. Smooth operator!

Snack time

Wood? (could apply to both of the above pictures really)

A special surprise video presentation…this time from the bride to the groom

Lilly makes a guest appearance
And a few from my very much missed and trusty sidekick…Darren

I love that in the time I’ve worked with Darren I’ve developed an implicit trust of his work…

When asked if they could play Mike Oldfield’s ‘Tuba-lar Bells’ my joke was met little response. I wonder if they had the blue M&M’s removed from the green room as well :)

‘Cause this is Thriller….’

Seems a fitting way to end this today

Surrey Wedding Photography – Sophie and Simon – Loseley House
Posted by: | CommentsThis was my first visit to Loseley House. A bit of a baptism by fire (or perhaps rain). Just as I arrived at the venue from the bridal prep the heavens opened and hail stones crashed down. For about 2 hours it was an interesting affair. Thankfully Sophie, Simon nor the guests let it hamper their day and before long the skies were blue and clouds puffy white. Its the kind of day that challenges a photographer most…going from pouring rain and darkness to blasting sunshine and contrasty shadows. Hope you like what you see.

It was nice to see the boys for a change

Had anyone made any sudden movements forward it could have been a doubled-over moment

There is something raw about this photo that I just love. I can’t really explain it…but it gets right into me.

Back with the girls … and for the record I love this too!

ahhh…my just one!

Dress’m up and all that

Shoes…its kind of like the smell of fresh bread on a Sunday morning or a warm fire on Christmas Eve. Or perhaps I just have a fetish and should really just get over it….

Hang 10

“I love you (wo)man!”

Rain…it does a body good

A quick prayer to the rain gods and the waiting begins

Fortunately most of the wedding venues I work in have a roof. One of the USPs I offer to all my clients at no extra charge.

Can’t always promise the comics on the wall tho’

Holding up her score it took some time to realise that she had it facing the wrong direction

Someone did it…own up!

Its OK that I’ve focuses on the rain a bit…because soon, its all going to be a distant memory

Meet Milo…Sophie and Simon’s ball of joy

Photographer posts photo and runs (quickly) to the next wedding

Yes…this is the same day. Suddenly it was umbrella for totally different reasons

Ohh Mr Darcy

Shortly afterwards he ripped off his FOB strip to reveal a message…oh..wait…this isn’t the FA cup final is it. Moving along…

Simon’s Dad was a quiet chap…but you could always tell what he was thinking

This is supposed to be a self portrait of Simon…sure..like…whatever

Wine + Guest = Happy Guest

All set up for my usual dance shots, no one told S&S that they needed to stand a little closer to the flashes than 45 feet. Doh!

Thankfully the video light saved my bacon

Awww…bless….

Just One – Jess and Jason – Little Missenden, Buckinghamshire
Posted by: | CommentsMy last ‘Just One’ of the weekend. As usual more choices that I know what to do with (which makes for good blog fodder on Tuesday). In the end it came down to the fact that I usually never have couples who ride a horse from the church to the reception…and the be honest I would be silly to not call that ‘unique’…..

Just One – Sophie and Simon – Loseley House, Surrey
Posted by: | CommentsDamn you Just One! It was a toss up between cool light and quirky location…quirky wins AGAIN! More on Monday afternoon…
Pembrokeshire Wedding Photography – Helen and Ben
Posted by: | CommentsA week and a bit late on this one. Wales was wonderful, if not a little wet. We did have sunshine everyday…well, everyday after 2:00pm. Strange climate. But ultimately we had a great time as a family. I won’t jibber for long or I’ll give it all away. Back in a mo!

Some might think I blew the focus here…but in fact this is what I wanted (I have others). The river was so much a part of Helen’s life that it seemed worth it to work it in.

Itsy bitsy teeny weeny purple polka dot … ironing board?

Awww…bless, the bride plays with THE cutest baby ever. Hey…wait a minute…that’s MY BABY!

Pleased I’d say

I tried so hard to work both in the photo…the angle wasn’t right but its enough

A dad, a speech, a river (or is that an estuary)

Some bright spark might ask “why take a shot of the bridesmaids getting gifts as a reflection in clock face”….well, as it was a staged experience set up by the video chap and I really didn’t want to appear as a guest star so I looked for other ways to document. So…there you go.

Ring a round of roses but not a tissue in sight

Not entirely sure the legs suit him TBH

The firestorm of final touches whilst I take refuge…in the loo

Unlike Obama, Ben resisted the temptation!

Luckily the window was up as to not disturb the hair

With the mild disruption due to a rather subdued rendition of ‘Shine Jesus Shine’ I was able to sneak around the corner…

Get used to that look on Ben’s face…in literature we call that foreshadowing

A little HDR and a river/estuary (this is here mostly for Helen)

Probably the best formal I’ve ever taken!

Sadly this is what I will be forced to give them

What a week of rain will do

Hiring a table hypnotist seemed such a good idea at the time

Oh yes…the speeches timing raffle pot. Who knew both the Bride and the Chief Bridemaid would get their oar in as well!

A moments peace…this is Laura and Leigh…and they ARE the reason I found myself in west Wales. I shot their wedding in 2007.

One of my favourite cake cutting shots

Damn Ben…not AGAIN!

Suddenly I’m reminded that women often marry men that remind them of their father. Proof there is SOME truth in old wive’s tales

With a little practice I reckon Helen could do it too!

The look…its contagious

Fading light and lots of champagne…its time for the Keogh family thumbs up photo

Yes…your eyes do not deceive. That is a lovely young lady doing a one handed press up in the middle of the dance floor. Beats the heck out of me?

From one armed press ups to two handed boogie
